No Report

Sharon Beasley recommended that OHS Life Members be issued new cards. Sharon moved that we make up new cards to distribute. Seconded by Shirley McFarland. Passes Unanimously. Also reminded everyone to pay their dues to JoAnne and not to AHS as it is easier to keep track of membership that way.

Vicky reported that the next Horticulture Horizons newsletter is due out in mid-March. She needs any articles immediately.

Marjorie Moesel announced that the scholarship winners from OKC would be at the general meeting. She also said there were more entries in the youth division at the OKC Garden Festival this year. Hugh Stout mentioned the Jr. Master Gardener program at the Myriad Gardens.

Russell Studebaker received the Vaclavek Gold Medal award in Tulsa at the talk on Thursday night as he could not be present at the meeting today.

Hugh Stout reported that the website has doubled the number of visits in January with around 1800 visits in February. There are also visits from Europe, Asia and Australia and he has added several links to other groups.

Jennifer Stout reported that the OHS booth at the OK Garden Festival was great this year. OHS won the first place ribbon in their class. Thanks to the Satterlee’s for the plants and to all those who helped build and staff the booth. We need a new chairman for next year soon.

The Myriad Garden School is March 27. OHS needs a few volunteers to staff the OHS table at this event.

Warren Filley reported that there was a full slate for the elections at the general meeting. New officers will be: Hugh Stout – President; Steve Owens – Vice President; JoAnne Vervinck – Treasurer; Brenda Sanders – Secretary. Rodd Moesel has agreed to take over Dick Moesel’s position on the board and serve out his term. New Board members through 2006 include: Beth Wagner, Cathy Connel, Scott Brenkert, Jim Kirby, Paul Johnson, Brian Pirtle, and Brent Suttles. Frank Arney will fill Steve Owens’ board position through 2005.

Hugh discussed the possibility of guidelines for the website

JoAnne Vervinck gave a report on the progress of the application to add Will Rogers Park to the National Register of Historic Places. There are 30 acres of the park that are eligible to be added to the register. She is currently working on the design theme of the park and documenting how the park fits in to the overall plan of OKC. The deadline for the application is August 30

Need a new chair for the Heritage Tree Committee – tabled until the post meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda R. Sanders, Secretary
